MC Southwest Roadtrip DAY 1 - Los Angeles to Laughlin, NV
I'm sitting on the shore of the Colorado river at Harrah's in Laughlin Nevada reflecting on the day's events.
Ending the day on the river's edge in Laughlin
For months I've been combing the internet researching and planning this Southwest adventure. One thing I quickly realized was that driving on big interstate freeways for long stretches is a recipe for boredom. Sure they're efficent, but who wants that? You don't get the same vistas when you're driving 85mph stuck between 2 big rigs.

So it was decided that Route 66 would be our first leg of the trip along with other scenic byways sprinkled throughout our journey.
We made a quick meal stop in Barstow at the famous rail car McDonald's. Then we proceeded to head towards Needles. This is when the romanticized images I had of Route 66 began to start showing up along the roadside.
