MC Southwest Roadtrip DAY 2 - Oatman and Williams, AZ
Just on the other side of the Colorado River that runs through Laughlin Nevada is the town of Bullhead in the state of Arizona. We gassed up here and had a hearty breakfast at this place called Castle Earl's Home Cookin.
The food is better than the name.
The Burros run this town.
Our first official stop of the day was gonna be at this campy little ghost town called Oatman. It's famous for the wild burros that roam the streets of the town looking for handouts from tourists. We actually got accosted by one on our drive in and had to give up a granola bar to appease him (watch the recap video for footage). Oatman is fun for about 20 minutes. After the initial wow factor, the whole place looks a bit sad.
Oatman: the tourist trap I'll happily go to
The real fun was the route from Oatman to Kingman. It's sketchy and beautiful at the same damn time! The road is just beaten up to the next level and has more twist and turns than you can shake a stick at.
Kept it moving and went thru Kingman, following Route 66 taking pit stops at the Grand Canyon Caverns and Seligman before arriving at Williams.
Welcome to the Hackberry General Store.
This creepy wood carved cowboy greets you at the Grand Canyon Caverns.
Where does the HDMI cable plug in to?
Lime green dinosaurs can be found at the Grand Canyon Caverns as well
The old jail at Seligman

Air conditioned Outhouse at Snow Cap
Hoody ornaments
Rainbow ceiling fan at Snow Cap.
Welcome to the city of Williams, AZ
Williams is the quintessential Route 66 sleepy town. I'm sure that the design team at Disney Pixar used it for the inspiration of Radiator Springs in the movie Cars. It just happened to be Train Day and there were all kinds of vintage cars and locomotives on display.
They don't make em like they used to
Williams is cozy, and I will def be back someday. But for now we gots to keep it moving thru the southwest. Oak Creek Canyon here we come!
